The value of learning while doing is irreplaceable. I try to mimic this principle in each lesson I teach. For example, while investigating the life cycle of a bee in inquiry, we acted out each stage. In math, giving the students time to explore with manipulatives brings the learning to life.
Working with other educators improves my teaching practice. We are at our best when we work together. Interdisciplinary lessons encourage learning across curriculum areas. Classroom families are also community. Parents and teachers working together gives the best opportunity for growth to the child.
Students learn best when they are interested in what they are learning about. I take the Ontario Curriculum and link it to students wonders and interests. This gives the students more ownership over their learning and allows us to go deeper with them into learning skills.
